KSTDC launches Special Tour Packages

KSTDC launched on Jul 12, 2015 special one, two, three and five-day tour packages to different places across Karnataka from Mysuru on a trial basis. After launching the services of six AC buses near the north gate of Mysuru Palace, tourism minister R V Deshpande said that the government is going all out to promote tourism in the state.

KSTDC will soon start Tour Packages from Mysore - the City of Palaces to the temple city of Tirupati as a part of exclusive tour plans to the most-visited pilgrimage destinations. Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) committee will be releasing tickets under 'Seeghra Darshan' system to the KSTDC to operate more packages.

KSTDC is also giving attention on Caravan tourism. The idea of promoting caravan tourism � a fully-equipped vehicle at the service of tourists (Recreational Vehicle or RV) is taking shape in the State which has of late given focus on eco-tourism, wildlife tourism and adventure tourism. A detailed project report (DPR) on caravan tourism is getting ready as the Department of Tourism is making a serious bid to introduce the concept for the well-heeled tourist, mostly the international tourists, who are familiar with the concept, to travel around the State.

The Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation (KSTDC) is all set to start air services in Karnataka, to keep up pace with Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Goa. Arvind Jadhav, additional chief secretary, tourism on Apr 10, 2015 said air services had also been given way in the budget. KSTDC will also appoint a transaction advisor for the same.

Bengaluru Mega Tourism Summit

Bengaluru would hosted mega tourism summit in September. The new tourism policy was unveiled in Bengaluru on July 16. The Chief Minister released the policy, whose thrust would be on promoting new areas of tourism. The promotion of wellness or medical tourism, wildlife tourism, yoga tourism, heritage tourism and many such concepts gets impetus in he new Tourism Policy.

National Landscape Fest

The country's first national landscape fest is all set to begin from November 11 to 15 in Lalbagh under the joint endeavour of the horticulture and agriculture departments that would demonstrate and exhibit several aspects of landscaping, urban horticulture and spiritual gardens. A unique initiative, the fest would showcase the biggest vertical garden in the history of Lalbagh - at 7 feet tall and 1000 feet wide, covering an area of 7,000 square feet all around the glass house at Lalbagh.
