Ramasamudra Lake Karkala
Ramasamudra lake is 40 km away from Udupi, Karkala and takes almost 52 mins to reach there. Ramasamudra lake was built in the 14th century. One of the important kings of the Jain sect Veera Bhairava takes the glory of building this lake. He had two sons Ramanatha and Veerapandya. Ramanatha passed away at a young age and this lake was built to commemorate him. This scenic beauty turns heavenly during sunrise and sunset, making it a perfect spot for some peace of mind. The old-timers visit this this place for the same. Birds chirping, the silent water and fresh air make it a splendid picnic spot.
Ramasamudra lake is considered sacred by the people of Karkala and the avabhratha of Lord Venkatarmana also takes place here. There is also a small park for children to play.
