Kannada movies like 'Patre Loves Padma' was shot at Nandi Hills. Muthina Haara was shot in Talacauvery, Coorg & 'Anna Bond' at Kolar Gold Fields (KGF). Ondu Muthina Kathe was shot at ST. Marys Island, Udupi. Mungaru Male was shot at Jog Falls, Hassan & Gadag. 'Bandana' & 'Belli Moda' were shot in Chikamagalur. 'Ondanondu Kaladalli' was shot in Belgaum.

'Kanchana Mala' song in tamil Movie 'Vandhan Vendran' was shot at the premises of Badami Caves. 'Kumki' was shot near Jog Falls.

Pattadakallu Temples, Pattadakal was one of the shooting location of Telugu movie - Magadheera. Sankarabharanam was shot at Chennakesava Temple, Belur.

R.K. Narayan's Malgudi Days whose televised version was made by Shankar Nag was shot in Agumbe. Malgudi Days is the story of 10 year old Swami, his family and neighbours who can be found anywhere in the world. Including in the make-believe town of Malgudi or Agumbe where the series was shot.

Beautiful Villages in Karnataka shown in Bollywood Films


Ramgarh - Sholay
Sholay, possibly the most famous film ever made, was released on August 15, 1975. Ramgarh offers a perfect backdrop against the saga of love and revenge. The fictional village gets its shooting in Ramnagar, a beautiful place in Karnataka, just around 50 kms from the throbbing city of Bangalore. Nathuakhan is a ravishing hamlet near Ramgarh at an elevation of 6,365 ft above sea level. Tourists can enjoy nature walks, meditation or can relax in the beautiful gardens. The serenity and calmness of the surroundings of Nathuakhan is blessed with picturesque forests, lush green valleys and hilly terrains.

Mani Ratnam's movie Roja was filmed in Courtallam or Kutralam, which is actually a tourist place now famous for those waterfalls.

Budbuda - Billu
Priyadarshans Movie Billu movie was mostly shot in Pollachi village in Tamil Nadu whose stunning beauty has attracted the Bollywoods attention. The village has been portrayed in many a South Indian movies but it was also the setting for the Bollywood film, Billu.

Badami - Guru
Mani Ratnam chose the location of his movie Guru near Badami in Karnataka. But then it is able to capture what he wanted to portray in Gujarat. Look at those beautiful temples that make you fall in love with the Indian village. Badami Fort is a renowned archaeological site in Badami. It is located on top of a hill that stands at a distance of about 2 km from the main town of Badami in the Bagalkot district of Karnataka. Badami has also become backdrop for Telugu movies like Daruvu (2012), Brindavanam (2010), Dhamarukam (2012), Vikramarkudu (2006), Shirdi Sai (2012), Shakti (2011), Nagavalli (2011), Magadheera (2009).
