The Mutt grew rapidly under the 71st pontiff Jagadguru Sri Sri Sri Balagangadharanatha Swamiji who headed the mutt from 1974 to 2013.

Adichunchanagiri Institute of Medical Science was founded in the year 1986 and located off the Bangalore-Mangalore Highway at Balagangadharanatha Nagara, Mandya, Karnataka.
