BMTC buses running from Bangalore Airport: BMTC has resumed air-conditioned Volvo buses to various locations including Bangalore International Airport on 01 June 2020. The BMTC has been running skeleton services because of the Corona COVID-19 restrictions. The bus operations are presently restricted to 12 hours, from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM. BMTC buses resumed services on 19 May 2020 and later sought permission from the government to run its AC fleet in the hope of increasing daily revenue.
On June 21 2020, citing poor response from the public, BMTC has withdrawn more than half of its air-conditioned buses. Of the total 85 AC buses, 47 have been withdrawn.
Buses were operated on routes such as Majestic to Kadugodi, Majestic to Hoskote, Majestic to Attibele, Majestic to Sarjapur, Hebbal to Banashankari, Hebbal to Silk Board, Banashankari to ITPB, and Electronics City to ITPB. All buses have been sanitised and staff will wear masks and gloves. Each employee will have to undergo thermal scanning and use hand sanitisers before duty every day.
Passengers must follow a queue system at bus stands. Each bus will carry only 30 passengers. Passengers can board the bus only if seats are available. Use of masks mandatory. Passengers need to carry an ID Proof with Protograph on it (Like Aadhaar Card, Driving License, Voters ID) with them. Rear door has to be used for entry and front door for exit. Those with fever and other ailments not allowed to travel. Senior citizens above 60 years, pregnant women and children aged below 10 also not permitted.
