Sriperumbudur

Sriperumbudur is located in the Kancheepuram District in the State of Tamil Nadu. It is an industrial town that is known for the various international organizations that have established offices in the area.

Sriperumbudur has witnessed rapid industrialization and it is located around 40 km from the city of Chennai. There are many Special Economic Zones that can be seen in the town.

An international airport is being planned near Sriperumbudur and the town is located along the Chennai to Bangalore highway. Since the town is strategically located along this route it has witnessed an improvement in infrastructure as well. Sriperumbudur is infamous for being the place where former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated. The Rajiv Gandhi memorial is an interesting place to visit set amidst lush green gardens.

One of the main attractions of the town is the Madras Sports Club which is home to many races and rallies. Formula II races are held in the sports club and are one of the most famous racing tracks in the State. There are dirt tracks that are also available for off road racing. The town of Kanchipuram lies quite near to Sriperumbudur and this place is very famous for its countless temples.
