Adoni
Adoni is a commercial town in Kurnool district in Andhra Pradesh. Adoni is 300 km from Hyderabad and 494 km from Chennai by rail. The famous Swami Raghavendra's mutt is 42 km away from Adoni. Once a stronghold of the medieval Vijayanagara Empire, today it has a substantial textile industry. Adoni Fort
Adoni Fort which is one of the famous attractions of Adoni, was found approximately 300 years ago. The fort stands on rock granite hills and is visited by a large number of travellers.
Adoni hill-fort now in ruins, was an important seat of government in Islamic times and is frequently mentioned in the wars of the 18th century. Adoni is located in the border of Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. During British period Adoni was known as Second Mumbai as it is the hub for all types of businesses. As many rice mills are sealed due to some reasons, the production of rice is reduced. But still Adoni is the richest producer of cotton and it there is a big market yard in the town and hence the town is called as the Town of Cotton or Grain Market of South India.
Adoni Fort was controlled by the Vijayanagar Kings for some decades then it was taken over by Bijapur Shahs - later by Nizams, Mughals and finally by the British.
Parasmani Parshwanath Jain Tirth
Parasmani Parshwanath Jain Tirth is located in Pedda Tumbalam, Kurnool District which is near to Adoni town in Andhra pradesh. The Tirth is lavish and have got idols dated back in 17th century. The idols here are Parswamani Parshwanath Bhagwan, Padmavati devi and Nakoda Bhairav.
Jama Masjid
The Jama Masjid is another architectural marvel of Adoni. The Jama Masjid is supposed to be built around 1680 AD under the reign of Madhu Qadiri who was then an Adil Shahi Governor. The Jama Masjid is near to Adoni Fort. An immense doorway leads the visitor into the mosque. The prayer hall is huge with a five arched exterior. The minarets of the Jama Masjid are formed by the octagonal buttresses and the interior looks are superb.
